Independent Cinemas Australia (ICA) is the not-for-profit industry association representing independent exhibitors in Australia and New Zealand. For more than 25 years, ICA has been on a mission to represent and advance the interests of independent exhibitors in an increasingly competitive and complex industry.
We have developed partnerships with leading experts and preferred suppliers and most recently introduced the exclusive ICA Buying Group, giving our members great discounts with leading industry food and beverage suppliers and insurance services.
ICA has members in every state and territory in Australia and a partnership with the New Zealand Motion Picture Exhibitors Association extending representation across the Tasman. We provide solutions, savings and support to independent exhibitors. We achieve this by listening to our members both large and small and working together to make a difference for everyone.
One of my favourite times of the year is the annual ICA Conference, where we have the opportunity to spend time discussing current industry trends and gain insights into what we can do better to deliver the right support.
By taking this approach we have recently achieved some wonderful milestones - from fantastic consumer promotions through the My Cinema brand, collective negotiation terms to rolling out our new buying group. We are passionate about bringing real value to our members by achieving quality service and competitive prices to improve their bottom line.
Independent cinemas have been an enduring part of Australia’s social fabric for over a century. They are the heart of the community and we are dedicated to their support.
The strength of our cinemas is their connection to the local community whether it’s an ‘arthouse’ in the city or a regional multiplex or a single screen in the bush. Independent cinemas are all operated privately, and you’ll often find generations of the same family where the person serving you at the ticket box is also the owner.
Supporting Australian film and Australian audiences, independent cinema remains a strong and vibrant part of the industry. ICA supports our members to offer quality entertainment at affordable prices, while supporting the community with local employment and working to create a social hub. Nearly 30% of Australian box office comes through the doors of your local independent cinema.
